Calligraphy by Norman Kelly. The beauty of calligraphy is that it works at many levels. At its simplest – it is the use of letterforms that have been in use for thousands of years and which evoke a sense of order and purity.
At a more complex level, and with the use of modern materials and a
full colour palette, letters can be formed into stimulating and abstract works of art.
There are many forms in which calligraphy can be applied: from a simple place card to a large bound book. It can also be an effective form of wall-hung art – as much as any painting or photograph – and it is this aspect that I am keen to promote.
