About Anthony Platt

Anthony mainly paints the landscape of the Ribble Valley and surrounding areas in oil working from his home in Whalley, Lancashire. Anthony is inspired by the outstanding countryside in Ribble Valley and paint from photographs taken whilst out running and walking. When not in his studio Anthony enjoys painting en plein air.

Anthony has always painted from a young age and graduated from the University of Central Lancashire in 2001 with a BA (Hons) in Illustration. He has appeared as a wildcard artist on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year and has also taken part in other plein air art competitions including Create Longridge. He received 2nd prize at Paint the Town Blackburn and 1st prize at Paint Padiham in 2021. More recently Anthony received the selectors prize at the Clitheroe contemporary art exhibition.

Anthony’s paintings have recently evolved into a more painterly style. He uses brushstrokes to depict a moment in time and the experience felt when discovering the scene to paint. He likes to capture the ever-changing movement and colours of the landscape.

Anthony’s work is currently for sale in Longridge gallery and Picture House in Padiham. More artwork, can be seen on the Facebook page Anthony Platt Art and on Instagram @aplatt_art.
