About Movement To Music
A weekly movement class held at Grindleton Pavilion, that is specially designed for people living with neurological conditions and their friends and family. It has been developed through LPM Dance and is led by somatic movement practitioner Filomena Ianni. The class is co-facilitated by professional dancer Aimee Lily Williamson and volunteering somatic movement practitioner Anne Kingston. The classes are a fun, creative way to move, make friends and improve well being and mobility.
Classes meet every Tuesday at 2pm. Payment of £3.50 can be made on the day in cash.
To support the class please follow this link to their Go Fund Me page.
“It makes me feel normal when I am with others dancing and laughing”
“The music definitely helps me to move better. This is partly to do with rhythm and patterns, and also to do with the mood that music can create, and the story that music can generate”
“I love all the suggested visualisations, and I use them, and some of my own, whilst practising outside class”.
“Neuro-Moves makes you feel more in control of the condition you have to deal with every day & imagery can transport you to a good place in your mind, lifting your mood”
“It’s just a tonic”
“It has improved my confidence and reduced my anxiety. I enjoy the session and I have made some nice people”
“It’s good fun, creative, joyful, interesting, and, with the teacher’s help, I can stay within the limits of my physical impairments, but push through boundaries, to achieve more than I expect”
“I was diagnosed on August 1st. This is the first time since August 1st that I’ve felt positive (participants’ first NM class)
