Ribble Valley Jazz & Blues aims to increase participation in live jazz & blues music for musicians and audiences, prioritising participation by young people. Their events impact culturally, socially and economically, primarily in Clitheroe, Ribble Valley, and Lancashire, attracting wider interest across the north of England, the UK, and internationally, particularly for our annual jazz festival. RVJ&B is a charitable organisation developed by volunteers, and a membership of 150 supporters. It runs a substantial portfolio of activities and events supported by a range of partners from the business, public and community sectors, including invaluable support from the Arts Council of England.
Main activities include:
*An annual five day jazz festival over May Day Bank Holiday weekend attracting top UK & International musicians and bands. See events section or RVJ&B website for more info.
*Monthly jazz gigs with well known UK bands
*Organising two big bands – Ribble Valley Jazz Collective, & BluFunk Syndicate
*Promoting regular jazz sessions in Ribble Valley villages
*Workshops and training sessions for musicians
