Hello, I’m Sam and I’m a freelance illustrator and surface pattern designer living in the lovely Ribble Valley.
After graduating with a BA in Fine Art, I worked for over twenty years as an in-house designer at a greeting card company.
Now I’m freelancing It’s an absolute joy to spend my days working on children’s books and greeting cards. I have designed products for many high street companies.
In September 2020 I won first prize in the Templar Design & Illustration Awards in the Picture Book Category.
My artwork is mostly digital, created in Procreate, Photoshop and Illustrator, mixed with hand drawn elements.
I’m inspired by everyday life, never going anywhere without my sketchbook, walking the dog, gardening, seeing the changes in the seasons, life drawing and working one day a week in a charity shop (I’m quite passionate about recycling, not seeing clothes go to land fill and I love all things vintage!)
